Module for laboratory work

L@B-IS® Laboratory Information System is intended for automation, command, control and efficient management of large amounts of data in medical laboratories. It covers all administrative and technical tasks associated with patients and orders, i.e. ordering, analyser-related tasks, reviewing, entering, editing and authorising test results as well as postponing examinations, checking their results, and issuing/printing test results.

  • compliance with international standards such as the CLSI (Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute),

  • compliance with the recommendations of the OECD GLP (Good Laboratory Practice),

  • compliance with standard operating procedures (SOP) in medical laboratories,

  • prepared documentation for verifying system in line with the CLSI AUTO8-A standard,

  • modular structure,

  • the module supports more than 100 different analysers,

  • we specialise in medical informatics,

  • we are certified with ISO 9001:2000 for quality management systems, and

  • in the process of obtaining the ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certification for information security management system.

Main advantages

The module is divided into three submodules, or working areas:

Administration

This working area comprises the following:

  • patient administration,

  • accepting orders from external information systems, e.g. from outpatient clinics and hospitals,

  • automatic printing of barcodes for sample labelling,

  • distribution of examinations by type of specialisation,

  • reviewing orders concerning the allocation to analysers,

  • sending orders to other laboratories,

  • ordering patient tests through electronic referrals,

  • examining the state of the patient, orders, samples and examinations, and

  • reviewing and printing patient reports.

Technician

Submodule technician is at the heart of all laboratory work, and allows you to:

  • set an arbitrary number of fields/technicians (haematology, biochemistry, urine, etc.);

  • review samples/tests currently running;

  • deposit samples/tests to be run later (stool);

  • work with analysers (send/print analyser worklists);

  • review patient’s medical history (results of previous tests)

  • calculate the results – automatically or manually – according to the formula selected;

  • review HIL values from analysers;

  • review delta values in relation to previous results;

  • review/enter results through input masks, which are user-modified for easier input;

  • record/select older results (repetitions from the analysers).

Anchor 2
Head

Head, or, final authorisation, is a submodule designed for higher levels of laboratory work performed in particular by laboratory heads. Its main characteristics are the following:

  • overview of tests for the head to check and complete orders;

  • same functionalities as the technician submodule;

  • possibility to mark orders for reprocessing by the technicians;

  • the control consists of several functionalities:

  • order log, which provides an overview of orders according to the time interval, regardless of their current status (pending, running, or archived);

  • checking the status of modules and analysers:

    • checking the status of communication with analysers;

    • easier search for errors (graphical representation of the integration system infrastructure);

  • module log entries:

    • analyser log entries (reviewing communications to facilitate the review of analyser events).

The following general functions are available in all application segments:

  • following the step-by-step order implementation;

  • entering comments in the order/samples/tests;

  • re-printing labels for samples.
